Camp Cherokee 2019 - Residential Camp

Notice: All camps are full for Summer 2019.

Camp Cherokee 2019 Residential Camp is an enriching academic experience for Cherokee Nation students entering grades 7 through 12. The camp will include classes in the areas of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) as well as cultural activities.  Students will be placed in a core class based on the ranking of their areas of interest, as designated on their application. Evening hours will provide time for recreation, enrichment, and large camp events. Students must have a Cherokee Nation Citizenship Card.

Camp Cherokee 2019 Residential Camp will be held at Heart O’ Hills Camp and Conference Center, at Welling, Oklahoma. There is no cost to attend this overnight camp. Space is limited so early applications will receive preference.

Camp Cherokee 2019 Day Camps are an academic experience for Cherokee Nation students. The camps will include classes in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) that will engage students’ minds and develop their curiosity in new areas. Cherokee students entering grades 1 through 6 are eligible to participate in a day camp in their local area. Each afternoon will be filled with group recreation and enrichment activities. Students must have a Cherokee Nation Citizenship Card.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can my child bring his/her cell phone, iPad, tablet or other electronic device?

Electronic devices are not allowed at Camp Cherokee.  All materials for classes and activities will be provided.  The on-site camp office will have phone service if needed. If your child is found to have any electronic device at camp they will be sent home.

Do the students have to be Cherokee?

Campers must be Cherokee Nation citizens to be eligible.

What are the ages for camp?

Day Camp

  • Cherokee Nation citizens entering grades 1st through 6th

Residential Camp

  • Cherokee Nation citizens entering grades 7th through 12th

What are the camp hours?

Day camp:

Student drop off 7:30 a.m.
Breakfast 7:30 a.m.
Lunch 11:00 a.m.
Student pick up 5:00 – 5:30 p.m.

Residential Camp:

Student drop off 3:00 p.m. Sunday
Breakfast 8:30 a.m.
Lunch – 12:45 p.m.
Student pick up 4:00 p.m. Friday

Registrations are online – please go to https://camp.cherokee.org to register a student.

Will transportation be provided for 2019 Day Camps; if so what are the times/locations?

This is set up by the transporting school.

Do I need to send money with my child to camp?

No money needed; all meals are provided free of charge and Camp Cherokee will fully supply all materials needed for classes and activities.
